Cargo TerminalOur proximity to Malaga International Airport (approx. 25 minutes) enables us to offer our clients a prompt and reliable freight forwarding service to all major destinations in the world. Regarding the level of service, you may choose between door to airport(we collect from your residence, full export pack the goods and take them to the cargo terminal and arrange for delivery to destination airport only) and door to door(same as above except that the consignment is delivered to your door not to the airport and the cost is considerably higher).

While in the ocean freight cargo business the word "container" is widely accepted, in the air freight cargo business the proper term is "unit load device", or more commonly ULD. ULDs are generally classified as lower deck containers and upper deck containers. Lower deck containers generally have smaller base dimensions than upper deck containers as a result of the curvature of the airplane body. Since a great deal of cargo is carried on commercial passenger flights, there are generally more lower deck than upper deck containers. Below is an example of a lower deck ULD:

What is IATA?

IATA (International Air Transport Association) is a non-political trade association comprising the world's international airline industry>. IATA brings together approximately 270 airlines, including the world's largest. Continual efforts by IATA ensure that freight can move around the vast global airline network as easily as if it were on a single airline in a single country.

  The IATA promotes:
- cooperation between airlines, and exchange of information.
- cooperation with international organisations.
- the standardisation of rates and conditions.
- the reduction of the bureaucratic formalities to a minimum.

Recognition as an IATA agent has become a hallmark of quality for the airlines and public at large. To become an accredited IATA agent you have to demonstrate financial soundness, proficiency of staff and the suitability and security of the premises.  To remain members, all accredited agents are required to undergo annual checks by IATA. Britannia Southern guarantees that only accredited IATA agents are employed to handle your shipment thus permitting a professional and prompt service from start to finish.

The Air Waybill explained:

What is the function of the Air Waybill?
An Air Waybill is   documentary proof of the contract of carriage between the shipper and the carrier. It also serves as a:

1. Receipt of goods for shipment.
2. Dispatch note, bearing a list of all attached documents, and any special instructions given by the shipper.
3. Form of invoice for the carriage of the goods.
4. Document required for Customs clearance.
5. Delivery receipt.
6. Official insurance certificate if the insurance cover was arranged through the airline.

Who issues the Air Waybill?
Air Waybills are sets of forms, following the IATA standard form. They are issued by the airlines or their accredited agents, and each one has on it a serial number and the name and the three digit identification number of the issuing airline.

An Air Waybill is not a title document, it is not negotiable. An Air Waybill is a document which has the same importance in air freight as a Bill of Lading has in sea freight, but, whereas a B/L is a title document, (i.e. it is a document which proves ownership of the goods mentioned in the B/L, and which can be bought and sold, entitling the buyer to ownership of the goods), an AWB cannot be used in this way. The words non-negotiable are printed at the top of the Air Waybill, and must not be changed or removed.
