Britannia
Southern has been in
the business of importing/exporting sea freight
containers for over twenty years. Organizing
shipments
to/from such countries as Canada, Australia,
New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and
the United States has allowed us to acquire invaluable expertise in the
often complicated world of freight forwarding. We are here to
make sure everything goes to plan. At origin, this means
preparing all the necessary documentation from the
beginning, professionally packing the goods on
site,
making a comprehensive inventory of the goods to
be shipped, labelling items individually, selecting the appropriate container based
on the volume and nature of the load,
booking the container with the shipping line, loading
and packing the container in a proper manner so
as to minimize damage during transit and, finally,
placing the numbered seal onto the container
door. If you require a door to door service, we are
able to provide you with a
worldwide network of reputable companies.
As
destination agents, we liaise with the
customer/moving company and with our customs
clearance agent to make certain all the necessary
documents have been submitted and are in order.
Only then can we take delivery of the
container. On unloading, the inventories provided
to us by the moving company at origin will be
carefully verified by our staff and any signs of damage
will be noted. We can unload the consignment into our wooden storage
containers until further
notice(see photo), or we can arrange for
prompt delivery using
our own vehicles. If access to the residence can
be verified as being good for the truck
transporting the container(i.e. no narrow roads or
difficult parking), then we can arrange for the container to be
positioned directly outside your residence, without the
need to "double handle" the goods.
Please note that taking excessive time to unload a container can
incur extra charges and, therefore, proper
arrangements have to be made prior to the
container arriving.
If you are
considering shipping your goods to Spain
from a country outside of the E.U., we strongly suggest
you use an international moving company with a proven track
record in container shipments. If they
are not familiar with the procedures and you
encounter problems clearing customs, then
you will incur some hefty
storage fees (demurrage)
at the port until the matter is resolved. If you
are planning to clear customs personally(not
recommended), then you ought to be fluent in
Spanish or pay a translator to assist you, and be
prepared to do a lot of running around if problems
should arise. If clearance procedures are not
initiated because of lack of documents, shipment
may be subject to auction by Spanish customs
after one month. Click

Spain.

The
Bill of lading explained:
|
A bill of lading is a
document which is issued by the transport carrier to the
shipper acknowledging that they have received the shipment
of goods and that they have been placed on board a
particular vessel which is bound for a particular
destination and states the terms in which these goods are
to be carried.
Bills of lading
can be issued in either non - negotiable (straight)
form or in negotiable form. If the bill of lading is
specified as being non-negotiable, the transportation
carrier must deliver it only to the consignee named in the
bill of lading, thus the bill of lading acts both as a
receipt of goods and as an agreement to transport these
goods to a specific destination and consignee in return
for payment of the transportation charges. If the bill of
lading is specifically labeled as being negotiable,
ownership to the goods and the right to re-route the
shipment are with the person who has ownership of the bill
of lading. |

Once again, thank you for everything and we would
certainly recommend your company".
